J NOTHELLE MOTORS - A Chronology
Nothelle: A name with heritage. For over 35 years, Nothelle has united
passion for the highest level of engineering with countless victories
in national and international Motorsports.
Our successful commitment to Motorsports dates back
to the year 1967. At that time our team had begun on the legendary NSU
TTS that laid the cornerstone for our success with a sensational victory
in the factory works series.
The impressive victories that followed, including the Porsche Championship
title, led to commissions by both Audi AG and Volkswagen for their international
Touring Car program. These endeavors in innovative concepts lead to the
next milestone in Nothelle history in1981. Rolf Nothelle and his team
delivered the most powerful front wheel drive entry, tuned to compete
in an extremely short timeline just before race day.
Today, manager Jens Nothelle junior, who began his racing career in 1988,
leads the Nothelle team in continuing the proud tradition in motoring
excellence. Jens graduated from 4 years in Kart Racing into the growing
ADAC Junior Formula Championship in 1991.
In 1992, Jens posted his first international entry into the Opel-Lotus
Challenge, similar to the Formula 3 series. Following the ADAC support
of up and coming young drivers, Ralf Schumacher followed Jens into the
Junior Formula Championship. The sporting highlight of his career undoubtedly
is his third place finish in the 1993 Opel-Lotus Challenge, where
he became the highest ranked and most successful German in the series.
This accomplishment earned him an invitation to compete in the Opel-Lotus
Nations Cup, where he finished as the most successful german driver. In
1994, Jens proved his driving and technical skills in the Formula 3 series.
In his successful career, Jens Nothelle competed against present day Formula
1 and Indy cart drivers such as Ralf Schumacher, Jos Verstappen, Jan Magnussen,
Tony Kanaan and Norberto Fontana.
In 1995 his focus turned to the endurance Racing and a 500 HP Porsche
turbo. Together with his engineers, he developed the car into a contender
in the GT class achieving consistent 2nd and 3rd place finishes. These
impressive results helped Jens Nothelle earn an entry into the Porsche
Carrera Cup, the highest level of a one make series in the world. As youngest
driver in the field, Jens used this asset to his advantage against the
veteran field.
With the changing of the guard at Nothelle, the next generation ushers
