V8STAR moves into its second season with Goodyear
and the Jaguar S-Type Silhouette.
- High-Class Touring Car Racing due to excellent
equal opportunity
- The V8 Star Series is motorsport to catch real
hold of
- The competition mode guarantees an exciting race
day
The V8Star Concept has convinced everybody right from
the start: Already in its premiere year the newly created silhouette touring
car series presented high class motorsport featuring fascinating automobiles.
Famous drivers and the technical regulations will provide the same fascination
again this year: All participants employ spectacular, yet unified technology.
Modifications are strictly prohibited. The narrow performance spectrum
of the starters stands for exciting races, the bulky V8STAR bolides let
the crowd go crazy. Heart of these racing thoroughbreds based on a tube
frame is the high-volume 5.7 litre 8-cylinder V8 engine, evolving in lush
495HP in performance and a fascinating rumble. For perfect grip all vehicles
use Goodyear tires, developed expecially for this series.
Seven different body silhouettes provide a diversified appearance for
the otherwise identical cars. Especially the Jaguar S-Type silhouette
enjoys high popularity with teams and fans. One of the Jags of the Zakspeed
team is driven by former Formula 1 pilot Pedro Lamy. "The V8STAR
is a very interesting series: It offers upscale motorsport with most modern
technology and spectacular vehicles the crowd can easily identify with.
That really matches the Goodyear philosophy" says Karl-Heinz Tibor,
Director of Goodyear-Motorsport.
In V8STAR racing the spectator truly takes pole position: The drivers
camp is always accessible and the teams do not hide behind closed doors
but work in open tents. That way the crowd can really examine the work
of the mechanics. "We offer spectacular motorsport with lots of horsepower
and a great sound. Here the fans do not only take the orchestra seats,
they are right in the middle of it all" states V8STAR president Altfrid
Heger pinpointing the philosophy of the series. With its entertaining
competition mode the V8 Star Series really offers something for everybody's
eye. In clocked practise rounds, Top-12-Qualifying and the 2-heat race,
all decisions take place in one day.
During heat one, starting with a classical still start, it is really the
time of the mechanics crews: In the duty tire change they take part in
the decision for success or defeat of their pilots. A quick change of
the Goodyear tires puts you right back on track for victory. Any failure
will force the driver to fight his way back into the heat. After 25 minutes
heat one is waved off and the whole field will be neutralized for a maximum
of three rounds, all drivers ligning up behind the pace car. Heat two
therefore gives everybody a new chance.
In a flight start the bolides commence their second race and the chase
for victory starts again until the 70-minute time-limit is up. Heat two,
apart from speed and virtue, is really asking for the right touch and
cleverness: Only the teams coming to the right adjustments for the car
and arranging their pace can fully exploit the high potential of the Goodyear
tires until the checkered flag is waved. Excitement from first to last
minute.
Success is rewarded twice here: Apart from championship points for the
season's ranking the V8STAR issues high price money for single events
and the final standings. The undisputedly highest price money in German
motorsport of 2.3 million Euro is issued to drivers, teams and crews in
separate categories.
